There is a dam to hold back substrate on the bottom, as well as a lip on the top where the spider can build its web. The door opens in the middle instead of the top so you do not disturb or damage its web when the cage is opened for maintenance or feeding. When placed horizontally, the cage is ideal for terrestrial tarantulas. A door will open from the top to allow easy access to your terrestrial. A low ceiling helps prevent injury or death resulting from a fall. The ventilation holes are placed out of reach for small feeder crickets. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWe have experimented with many different setups and believe this cage provides the proper balance of ventilation, while helping to maintain desired humidity.
