Seiko SZSB007; Limited Edition TicTAC
Model: Seiko SZSB007 / “TiCTAC”
Year: 2019
Features:
The Design. Released in limited numbers, exclusively in Japan in 2019, the Seiko SZSB007 “TiCTAC” offers a greyscale, minimalist take on the classic Alpinist design. It almost feels like the result of a selective breeding experiment between an Alpinist and a vintage Rolex Explorer - and I’m all for it. This retro-inspired, JDM piece is not only highly affordable but also comes with the added bonus of confusing Western Alpinist lovers who have most likely never seen this watch before.
The Finish. Bringing up the indices might seem like a small part of the watch, but you’ll find their finish very noticeable on your wrist as it catches the light. The hour markers have an iridescent finish to them. They change from purple to green to yellow to blue, and back again. It’s achieved by coating the stainless-steel markers with titanium nitride, which causes the “interference effect” to any incoming light. A playful touch not seen on many modern Seikos.
The Occasion. Only released in Japan in 2019 to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of TiCTAC, a specialist watch shop.
The Bracelet. The original bracelet, able to accommodate up to a 8 inch (20.5cm) wrist.
