Jardy-Met 12.5/1000mg Tablets are a fixed-dose combination product containing Valsartan 12.5mg, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), and Metformin 1000mg, a biguanide antidiabetic. This lower-dose valsartan formulation is indicated for patients requiring combined management of Type 2 diabetes and hypertension, particularly those being initiated on combination therapy or where a lower ARB dose is clinically appropriate. Valsartan reduces blood pressure by blocking the AT1 receptor, while Metformin lowers blood glucose by suppressing hepatic glucose output and enhancing insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues.

This formulation delivers the full metformin dose (1000mg) alongside a low introductory valsartan dose, allowing dose titration as tolerated. It is intended for use under physician supervision with regular blood pressure, blood glucose, and renal function monitoring. Patients should be counselled on the symptoms of hypoglycaemia and hypotension, particularly during initial dose titration. Metformin should be withheld before any iodinated contrast procedures or major surgery.

Common adverse effects include nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness, and headache. Hyperkalaemia is a risk with ARB therapy — avoid concurrent use of potassium-sparing diuretics unless directed.
