From Velier, a Pure Single Rum from the Mount Gay distillery in Barbados, produced by batch distillation in an iron pot still. This cuvée is a blend of 13 casks from the 2007 vintage (retained by Frank Ward after the distillery sale), which experienced a 70% angel’s share; the aging took place in American oak ex-bourbon barrels in the tropics for 16 years.

Description: Intense amber color. On the nose, initially strong notes of Cognac, dried fruit, herbal jelly, and dried plums, followed by a great sweetness of raisins, lychee, and dried longan, before a slight sparkling touch of cola syrup. On the palate, decidedly complex, slightly vinous and herbaceous with dark, warm, and sweet flavors.
